Communication error between control CPU's
Resolution:
This is a CPU Communications Error
- Check the environment (electromagnetic Compatibility or EMC).
- Ensure proper grounding of the drive and the motor.
- Ensure proper separation of control and communication wiring from power wiring (line and load).
- Use shielded cable for analog and serial communication and follow proper shielding/grounding practices.
In certain cases, high switching frequency (F300: Switch. freq. level) may contribute to an E-19 error, so if all the above had been confirmed and the issue remains, change F300 to 6 kHz and test.
If issue remains,
- Power down and after the display is blank, remove all control wiring and then reapply power and see if the fault returns.
- Check that no external +24v supply is connected to the control terminals. If external 24V is used, disconnect it and then test to see if it may be a source of noise.
- With no power applied, check internal connections on the control terminals as well as the connection between circuit boards that are visible without disassembly.

Issue:
What is an OL2 fault indicate on the Altivar ATV21 and ATV212 drives?
Product Line:
Altivar ATV21 and ATV212
Environment:
All
Cause:
Motor Overload
Resolution:
OL2 indicates the drive is detecting a Motor Overload fault.
This will happen when the motor current exceeds the level programmed in the tHr parameter (works the same as a motor overload relay on a motor starter).
High current can be caused by:
- Excessive load applied to the motor (motor is too small for the load).
- Motor is jammed or stuck (locked rotor condition).
- Motor is running a low speed for a long time (reduces the cooling of the fan on the motor).
- Incorrect setting of the Pt (Motor Control Mode) parameter.
- Motor wear and winding issue.
- Application issue.
Recommendations:
- Make sure your drive and motor are sized correctly for your application
- Ensure there is nothing jamming the motor
- Verify parameter AU1 (Auto Ramp Adapt) is set to 0 [disabled]. The factory default setting is 1 [enabled]
- Double-check your drive's parameters, particularly tHr (motor thermal protection), ensure the motor's nameplate data is entered correctly
- Set Output Phase Loss (F605=0) and run the drive 'open circuit' with the motor disconnected to test the drive. Run the drive at 20Hz, 40Hz, and 60Hz. If the drive doesn't fault, the issue is likely with the motor/application
- Per the Programming Manual approximately 120s is required to allow for reset.
- Test your motor with a 1000V Megger to find any issues with the motor windings/insulation
Can the GV2 be used on single phase applications?
Product Line:
Tesys Contactors and Overload Relays
Environment:
All Products
Cause:
Application Assistance
Resolution:
Yes, however you must verify that the device in question is suitable for the load to be controlled. Additionally, because these devices have single-phase sensitivity, provisions must be made to ensure nuisance tripping does not occur due to single phasing. This can be accomplished by wiring the current in series whereas all three poles of the device pass the current.

On the Altivar drives, in CiA402 profile, what sequence is written to run drive in Reverse?
Product LIne:
Altivar drives with serial communication control in CiA-402 (Drivecom) Mode of operation.
Environment:
All current production models with the exception of the ATV212 series, all serial numbers
Cause:
To issue a run command forward in CiA402 profile, you must write the sequence 6,7,15 to the command word. What sequence should be written to run reverse?
Resolution:
In order to run, Bits 0-3 must be all high, this translates to decimal value of 15. Bit 11 of the control word determines the direction of the the drive. When bits 0,1,2,3 are high (decimal 15) the drive runs in Forward direction. When bits 0,1,2,3,11 are high (decimal 2063) the drive runs in Reverse direction.

Press the down arrow 4 times, the display will flash the number "4" then shows the error code. If no error, it will show "nErr" 3, then press the down arrow again to show error number "3".
Repeat steps 2 and 3 above to display errors 2 and 1.
When using the remote keypad (VW3A1101):
Press the ESC button until you see "Fr-F" (do not press enter)
Arrow clockwise or counter clockwise until you see the last faults.

ATV71 drive with encoder card. When the drive is in I/O profile, SoMove will occasionally not allow parameters related to the encoder to be changed.
Product Line:
Altivar 71 series drives with encoder cards installed.
Environment:
ATV71 drives in I/O profile with encoder cards installed, SoMove V2.0
Cause:
This is an issue with SoMove software that had not previously been reported.
Resolution:
A permanent fix is being worked on to be released in a later update to SoMove. A temporary work around is to place the drive into Separate Profile, then back into I/O Profile. This should allow encoder parameter to be changed via SoMove. Note that the parameters can still be changed via the keypad normally. This problem only occurs when using SoMove software to program the drive and is a problem with the SoMove software itself, not with the drive.

ATV600 series Firmware < V1.5: The default User ID and password is: ADMIN
ATV600 drives with Firmware V1.5 or higher no longer support ADMIN as a default password. The password is now unique to the drive and has to be looked up in the webserver submenu 8.7.
ATV900 series implemented the password change beginning with V2.1.
ATV340 E implemented this change with V1.6.
NOTE: The password is not shown unless the drive has an IP address assigned (either through DHCP server or fixed IP settings).
The default User ID remains Admin (not case sensitive).
There has been an additional cyber security update to the drives that requires the default password to be changed on first connection via Ethernet (Webpage or SoMove).
This was implemented in V3.3 for ATV600/ATV900 and in V3.2 for ATV340 E.
This enhancement means you will be required to enter the default password (available on the keypad) and then will be required to enter a new password to access the drive.
Password policies can be modified using SoMove or from the Webserver.
It is possible to disable this cybersecurity function from the keypad or via SoMove/webserver but caution should be used before doing so, since this can compromise the security of the system.
SoMove connections via the Modbus port are not impacted.
