Why is the LCD display screen blank on a Micrologic Power or Harmonic type trip unit on a Powerpact P frame, R frame, or Masterpact circuit breaker?

Issue:
Why is the display blank on the trip unit?

Product Line:
Powerpact P frame, Powerpact R Frame, Masterpact NT, Masterpact NW

Resolution:
The LCD display on a Micrologic P or H trip unit will be blank unless the trip unit is energized.  Energization requires one of the following sets of conditions:
  1. The trip unit is energized by an external 24 Vdc applied to terminals F1-F2 (F1 negative-F2 positive).  See attachment for location of terminals.
  2. The trip unit is energized by an FFTK or HHTK test kit
  3. There is at least 100 V between two phases, AND the load reaches approximately 20% of the breaker's rated current.
  • Note that the display will not power up with primary injection testing unless one of the conditions in bullet 1 above is met.
  • Note that Ammeter trip units do not require external power and the display will come on with sufficient current flow alone.
See the following bulletins for more information on these trip units.

Can ground fault be disabled on a Micrologic 6.0A, 6.0P, or 6.0H trip unit on a Masterpact NT/NW or PowerPacT P/R frame circuit breaker?

Issue:
Can the ground fault pickup be disabled on a Micrologic 6.0A (ammeter), 6.0P (power), or 6.0H (harmonic) trip unit?

Product Line:
Micrologic, Masterpact, Powerpact

Resolution:
No. To eliminate ground fault protection, replace the trip unit with a 5.0 of the same type.
For ground fault alarm, replace the trip unit with a 5.0P or 5.0H trip unit and use an M2C (S64273) programmable contact module or I/O module(s) (LV434063).

Note:  if ground needs to be temporarily disabled for primary injection testing, refer to FA98682.

What is the best alternative for 5012S164/4LWE?

If you are after a replacement electronic switch for a 5012S164/4L-WE then order the standard item “B5034MNLPCB-WE” which contains a PCB Assy plus the Rear Cover.

If you are after an equivalent to a 5012S164/4L-WE the closest we have can be achieved by ordering 1 x “B12/30/6-WE” + 3 x “5031NMML” + 9 x “5031NMS”

If just for replacement then you could get B503xNL and remove the Metal Plate and just use the gang switch to replace the old unit.

B5031NL, B5032NL, B5034NL

Parts needed to upgrade a Masterpact NW breaker from a Micrologic 3.0 or 5.0 to the 3.0A, 5.0P, 6.0P, 5.0H, or 6.0H trip units

Inquiry:
Which parts are needed to upgrade a Masterpact NW breaker from a standard trip unit to a Micrologic 3.0A 5.0P 6.0P 5.0H or 6.0H?

Product Line:
Masterpact NW

Resolution:
Both fixed and drawout breakers need connector S33101 and the trip unit:
3.0A S141A
5.0A S143A
6.0A S144A
5.0P S163A
6.0P S164A
5.0H S173A
6.0H S174A

A neutral CT is required if the breaker is applied on a 4-wire system and new trip unit is a 6.0A, 6.0P, or 6.0H.
A neutral CT is also required if the breaker is applied on a 4-wire system and the new trip unit is a 5.0P or 5.0H being used for ground fault alarm.
See attached table for catalog numbers.

Fixed circuit breakers also need the following parts in addition to connector S33101:
External Voltage Sensing S47506 (P and H trip units only, if voltage sensing is required)
Secondary Disconnects (3) S47075 and (1) S47074
BCM S47405 (if Modbus is required)

Drawout circuit breakers also need the following parts in addition to connector S33101:
External Voltage Sensing S48533 (P and H trip units only, if voltage sensing is required)
Secondary Disconnects (3) S47850 and (1) S47849
BCM S48384 (if Modbus is required)
