Issue:
Differences between Harmonic mitigating transformers and K-Factor transformers

Product Line:
Low Voltage Transformers

Environment:
Applies to Low Voltage Transformers by SquareD/Schneider Electric

Resolution:
A K- factor transformer is really an oversized transformer with more copper to protect itself against harmonics. a beefier transformer. A harmonic mitigating transformer is more like a zig-zag transformer to trap the harmonics in the windings. This is more effective in reducing the distortion. The K-factor will not reduce the THD.
