What is SpaceLogic C-Bus?
It’s the new branding for your Clipsal C-Bus system, the same smart control system that started out 30 years ago (since 1994) at our design & engineering base in Adelaide, Australia.
Even with a new Spacelogic name in the title, you can trust that all new C-Bus products we launch are backwards compatible with all your old C-Bus products.
C-Bus is still a preferred control system in premium residential and commercial environments, and you will find many other “front end” control systems out there specialising in AV integration that are using C-Bus controls in their backroom for their dimming and on/off switching, all due to the C-Bus demonstrated reliability over the last 30 years.
C-Bus is a cabled solution with our industry recognised “pink cable” being used for all our C-Bus network connections, with “feature concrete” becoming a popular material with architects, cabling is the best way to ensure your site retains it communications integrity between devices where wireless technologies will fail as they cannot reliably penetrate denser building materials like concrete and stone.
The C-Bus product range includes wall switches; touch screens; high powered commercial dimmers; relays, LED compatible Phase dimmers; thermostats; occupancy & light level sensors and integration to energy monitoring products.
Almost anything electrical can be controlled with C-Bus technology.
How SpaceLogic C-Bus works
SpaceLogic C-Bus utilises “distributed intelligence”, which means it does not require a central controller like other systems. This helps to provide a more dependable, safer system. Each device has its own in-built microprocessor and can be individually programmed with ease to integrate with other devices.
Through a two-way, closed loop communication system, SpaceLogic C-Bus allows individual network devices to communicate directly with each other. This creates a more intelligent network with precise control; enabling individual devices to provide information about their status.
SpaceLogic C-Bus software allows simple control and monitoring of an entire network system from a user-friendly interface. The user interface can also be customised and configured to suit specific requirements, with a wide selection of control screens and buttons.

These new wall plates in C-Bus Saturn and C-Bus Zen series look the same from the front, but that’s where the similarities stop. With an all-new PCB design and enhanced functions these new wall plates will save you both time and effort on your next C-Bus project.
With a focus on returning to what made C-Bus popular in 1994 with our historic C-Bus installers, we have rolled out widget type programming wherever possible (instead of scripting).
These new wall plates fully embrace widgets programming and allow for easier programming of functions such as “joining / splitting rooms” as well as run on timers for fan lights.
Key features of the new wall plates are:
- Onboard temperature & humidity sensors with lo/hi thresholds
- Button LED’s support customisable RGB colours
- Scenes
- Sequences (a bit like macro’s and now supporting "delay for time”)
- Multi applications, mix your lighting and trigger applications
- 4 Profiles, allowing for different modal controls with each profile supporting different functions and controlled groups including LED colour, these profiles can be actioned using a C-Bus group address from any other C-Bus device.
Profiles selection via easier programming (no scripting required) for:
- Joining / splitting function rooms in hospitality venues
- During hours / After hours / Cleaners mode

- Full compatibility for LED lights that support phase dimming
- Installers can use our customisable dimming curve to provide you with a bespoke dimming experience with a much more linear dimming curve
- “Warn before turning off” the dimmed lights for each channel

- Supports Trailing or Leading edge phase control
- Supports load runtime monitoring, those time values can be displayed when a 5500AC2 or 5500NAC2 C-BUS controller is included in the project

- 12DIN size, can replace older C-Bus DIN dimmers with minor wiring changes

Compared to other control and management systems, this innovative design offers considerable cost advantages, while providing greater flexibility and reliability. Every SpaceLogic C-Bus unit is assigned a unique code, so that all devices on the SpaceLogic C-Bus network can be identified and programmed individually.
Since SpaceLogic C-Bus uses “peer to peer” communication, every SpaceLogic C-Bus device responds to their commands directly from the network, rather than a central computer or controller. The number of commands that can be programmed into a SpaceLogic C-Bus system is almost limitless.
